Aloe
marlothii
“Flat Flowered Aloe”
One of the larger & most impressive of the Aloes, “Flat Flowered Aloe” is also fairly hardy - to 20 degrees F. Usually single stemmed & eventually tree like (to 10’ tall), this species starts out as a huge rosette of thick gray-green leaves well armed with brown teeth. A Winter bloomer, the large 4’ tall & wide flower spikes (racemes) come in orange, yellow or amber & are held almost horizontally on branched “arms.” Rich, well-drained soil is best. Fab in large containers. No Summer water required.
