Chrysanthemum cinerariifolium
“Dalmatian Pyrethrum”

Chrysanthemum cinerariifolium “Dalmatian Pyrethrum”

I was not familiar with this important & useful Chrysanthemum until now. An attractive member of the daisy family, it is widely grown for its flowers, which make one of the best natural insecticides around. A nice addition to the garden too, it makes a bushy mound to 18” tall with lacey, silvery-gray foliage. From Summer thru Fall, it bears lots of 1 1/2" single, yellow-eyed, white daises in clusters. “Dalmatian Pyrethrum” is native to Yugoslavia and Albania and is hardy to 10 degrees F. Pretty & easily grown in any garden soil, but makes the highest concentration of insecticide, when grown in poor, dry soil. (water to establish). When rubbed on the skin, the leaves & flowers prevent insect bites.
