“Forest Lily”

Occurring naturally in the coastal forest at Natal - where it gets some Summer rainfall, “Forest Lily” makes quite the fashion statement! From late Winter to Spring, the densely held tubular flowers (Knifophia-like) rise on 1’ stems above the shiny, undulating foliage. The blooms, pink in full sun & greenish-pink in less light, are held upright when in bud & are pendulous when open. Each flower head lasts about a month. The flowers are pollinated by birds & so, will attract them. The fleshy bulb grows just below the surface soil, preferring to remain undisturbed & will gradually increase by division of its bulbs. Pest resistant and hardy to 30 degrees F!
