Aquilegia viridiflora 'Chocolate Soldier' A sweet-scented, heirloom Columbine introduced in 1902 bearing unusual, nodding, purplish brown petals held in yellow-green sepals. Bright chartreuse anthers add the finishing touch. Very attractive blue-green, fern-like foliage. To 12” tall. Columbines are tough & reliable perennials tolerant of most soils, though they prefer it rich & loamy. Cut back severly when its appearance begins to wane. Returns with gusto in early Spring. Annie |
