Anthriscus sylvestris
‘Raven’s Wing’

Anthriscus sylvestris Ravens Wing Anthriscus sylvestris Ravens Wing

My favorite perennial for providing color and textural contrast! Give it a place in your garden and watch how neighboring plants pop into glowing focus! Tough as nails, long lived (easily 5+ years) and gorgeous all season long, it’s actually a black variety of wild chervil and the leaves are edible. Rich purpley-black, densely held, feathery foliage forms a dense clump, 16” high and 24” wide. Small white flower umbels on 3’ stems in Summer can be cut off or allowed to self-sow for more plants. Adaptable and versatile, it can also be used for dressing up the base of roses and taller shrubs.  Cut back to 6” tall in Winter. Tolerates sand, clay, periodic drought and it’s deer resistant!
