Aloe africana

Aloe africana Aloe africana

Here’s a BIG specimen that makes an impressive statement. Eventually reaching over 6’ tall (!), this Aloe forms a trunk supporting a 3-4’ wide rosette of arching succulent leaves. Flowering late Winter thru Spring (often blooming during the Summer as well) the multitudes of upright 2-3’ tall inflorescences carry hundreds of red-orange and yellow flowers. These torch-like blooms are attractive to hummingbirds and compliment the grey green leaves, which are armed with many dark thorns. Tolerant of hot sun, drought, wind, deer, salt spray and a wide range of soils. From the Eastern Cape of South Africa.
