Aloe marlothii
“Flat Flowered Aloe”

One of the larger and most impressive of the Aloes, it’s also fairly cold tolerant. Usually single stemmed and eventually tree like (to 10’ tall and 6’ wide), this species starts out as a huge rosette of thick gray-green leaves well armed with brown teeth. A Winter bloomer, the large 4’ tall and wide candelabra flower spikes (racemes) come in orange, yellow or amber and are held almost horizontally on branched “arms.” Rich, well-drained soil is best. Fab in large containers. No Summer water required.
