Here’s a compact and beautiful California Lilac cultivar for your native, xeric or pollinator garden. Featuring densely packed finely crinkled dark green leaves, this 3-5’ tall and wide evergreen shrub is smothered in 3” clusters of china blue flowers come late Summer. Flowering continues till first frost, making it an excellent choice for late Fall color when the garden is shifting to yellows and reds. Much beloved by bees and butterflies (especially the CA Tortoiseshell), seeds are coveted by bushtits, mockingbirds, quail and finches. Very drought and heat tolerant and adaptable to a variety of soils. Beautiful as a focal point but rugged enough for a hedge or dry hillside.
