Achillea millefolium
'Red Velvet'

Achillea millefolium Red Velvet

One of the candy-appley reddest Yarrows we’ve ever seen! Chosen for its rich, scarlet blooms that are surprisingly resistant to fading, this modern hybrid is excellent for cut flowers, attracting butterflies and adding brilliant color to the Summer garden. Forming a lush, fern-like mound of foliage 1’ high and 2’ wide, the dense umbels are held on strongly erect flower spikes that can reach 3’ tall! Drought, deer and clay tolerant, it’s happy with low or high water, in the ground or in a container. Makes a fantastic border plant, especially next to stone walkways where it can spread to fill in between the pavers to form a walkable groundcover. Provide average water during the first year, after which it will be surprisingly drought tolerant. Evergreen in warm Winter areas.
