Deschampsia caespitosa

Deschampsia caespitosa Northern Lights

An extremely ornamental grass for a shady spot! Growing a little over 1’ tall and wide, its slim, highly textural foliage is striped cream and green, becoming suffused with a showy pink blush in cool weather. In Summer, it produces a 3’ tall airy froth of fawn colored plumage – so useful in floral arrangements! Wonderful in a container (about 5 gal.), edging a bed, or planted en masse as an extremely low-maintenance groundcover – especially pretty in mild-Winter areas where it remains evergreen! Cut back by two thirds in early Spring and, once mature, divide every few years in Fall for freebies and best health. Protect from hot afternoon sun.
