Add major interest to a ho-hum garden with this undemanding architectural palm-like New Zealand native. Dramatic in form and color, brightly striped green and cream strappy foliage forms a large spherical rosette above a sturdy trunk. Slow growing to 10-20’ tall, it’s extra impressive against a dark background and provides Winter interest during the bleaker months. Plant it in groups for a fun and tropical display. Often used as an easy-showy container or patio plant. Tolerating both sandy and clayish soil, best color is seen with some Summer water. Deer resistant and hardy to 10-15 degrees F.
