2” large, startling (“brilliant” doesn’t do it justice) scarlet red flowers deliver incandescent color to the mid-late Summer garden, but I would grow it just for its lush, satiny deep ruby-burgundy foliage and upright stalks alone – they’re so pretty! To 3’x18”, ours returns bloomier each year here in coastal California. Now, here’s the thing – it needs and loves rich composty moist soil (you can even grow it in boggy soil). If you can provide that, it’ll be spectacular and plus you’ll get lots of hummingbirds, butterflies and cut flowers! Good in containers. Deer and rabbit resistant. Can be divided. Winter deciduous.
